‘Under Pressure’ by Logic,, Review by Jose Castro

Review:

With ‘Under Pressure’ becoming Logic’s first official studio album, there was lots of pressure on him and his team to show their talent. Despite all the negativity in his life, he managed to channel his voice and his power through his music continuously throughout this album. This album not only comes from deep inside his heart, but logic assured that his fans will also be able to feel a connection to his music. From the way he raps about financial insecurity and domestic violence in “Soul Food,” to the opposite flow in songs such as “Alright” where he brags and rekindles on his success and what he plans on doing with that. The reason this album becomes greater every day is because Logic is one of the true artists to stick to his original dreams and stay true to himself. Constantly throughout this album, the message was made clear that logic is here to help people and let them know they aren’t alone. 4 years later, he is known for saving millions of lives with his hit song “1-800-273-8255,” donates to various foundations, and is known for having a very important relationship with his fans. The bars and lyrics used in Under Pressure symbolize that logic, although from an extremely low socio-economic level, was able to express himself and use the microphone as his weapon and make sure to combine his skill set to his advantage. He makes sure to touch on every angle of growing up in poverty, depicting in songs such as “Growing Pains III” what it was like to be raised in the hood and constantly fear for your life. In songs such as “Nikki,” where he vows to never smoke another cigarette after his debut album is released. Overall, Under Pressure by logic is one of the most underrated music albums in history, however it is clear that he made this album with the intention of leaving his mark on the world and making sure that he became a household name.
